Summer Events in Kansas City, Missouri Dr. Sheldon Fleishman Podiarist

For kids across the nation, summer simply means that school is out and that they finally get free time, but for adults, summer means live concerts, vacations and food festivals! Whether you live in or near Kansas City, Missouri or will be passing through, here are five events you should consider attending this summer.

1.)  KC Riverfest

Kansas City’s premiere Independence Day celebration along the Missouri Riverfront will kick-off at 4 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, 2016 in Berkley Riverfront Park. Come out with friends and family to enjoy an amazing fireworks show, delicious food, games for the kids and fantastic live music.  Admission is free from 4 p.m.to 5 p.m. and after will be $5 dollars at the gate, cash only. 

2.) Kansas City’s Big Picnic 2016

Come out for an evening of fun on Sunday, July 17th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art has partnered with KC Parks and is hosting the biggest picnic the region has ever seen to celebrate National Parks and Recreation month.  Pack up your favorite food into a picnic basket or grab dinner from an on-site food truck.  For more information please visit kcparks.org.

3.)  Kansas City Museum Summer Concert Series

Bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic to the historic Kansas City Museum grounds on June 26th, July8th and August 12th to catch a free concert. For artist info and show times, please visit kansascitymuseum.org.

4.)  5th Annual Sly’s Rock the Block

Enjoy this free and open event hosted by Kansas City Mayor Sly James on Saturday, August 13th from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.  There will be games, live entertainment, basketball, carnival games, face painting, a community zone and so much more for the entire family.

5.) 8th Annual Bacon-fest: The Other Fundraiser

If you’re a bacon lover this event is just for you!  This festival is making a difference through bacon in Kansas City on August 27th.  Come out to sample bacon flavored everything and listen to live local music. Funds raised during this event will help to empower individuals with disabilities.   Tickets go on sale July 1st for $40 General Admission and $80 VIP Admission.
